I wrote this for an Underneath the Juniper Tree writing challenge, August 29, 2011:
I love you, Lizzie Borden . . .
As she crept up the stairs, fondling the wooden axe in her hands . . .
“This one’s for you, Lizzie!”

Hi Dawn. I believe as some analysts do, that (if) Lizzie committed the murders leaving no evidence, it was because she bathed herself immediately afterwards. I am guessing that your share is an inference to Lizzie’s innocence…

Actually, from everything I’ve read, I believe she was guilty. I don’t think her sister or the maid would have committed such a horrible crime, although the maid could have been in on it, and the sister may have suspected Lizzie. The movie starring Elizabeth Montgomery presents a plausible scenario, the same one you suggested. I just used her for inspiration for this story because the editors at UTJT liked things like that. Thank you for stopping by and reading and commenting! Have a great evening!

Well Lizzy certainly was not alarmed by her parent’s death, according to the book, professional analyses or the film.🤔

True! And she hated her father’s penny-pinching ways and wanted money and freedom. And she hated her stepmother.

This story has captured my imagination since I learned about it in middle school. Thanks for keeping the creep alive.
