My Writing Journey

Priscilla Bettis’s Review of “Lunar Gazing Haiku”

(Created on Canva by Dawn Pisturino.)

I’m thrilled to share Priscilla Bettis’s Amazon review of Lunar Gazing Haiku. Priscilla is a Christian author/poet who writes reviews (along with other authors) of Christian fiction at The Well Read Fish. Please visit their website to learn more about Christian fiction.

I discovered Priscilla through River Dixon’s Potter’s Grove Press (no longer extant) when she wrote the controversial novel, Dog Meat. I’ve followed her since on WordPress.

Thank you, Priscilla, for reading my book and writing such a lovely review!

Satisfying Collection

Reviewed in the United States on June 22, 2024

“I enjoyed this collection of haiku and senryu. Each observation by Pisturino, each turn of phrase, each surprise twist made these short poems a pleasure to read. Some of my favorites:

“‘Primordial Rocks’ because it shows how scary a hot, desolate desert can be.

“‘Comets’ because Pisturino illustrates our smallness and vulnerability in the universe.

“‘Dogs’ because it shows Pisturino’s sense of humor.

“Whether readers enjoy nature poems, lighthearted poems, poems that touch on spirituality, or poems about humankind’s nature, everyone will find something to love about this collection.”

Lunar Gazing Haiku is available on Amazon Kindle for $0.99 USD.

The Kindle app can be downloaded for free at the Amazon Kindle Store, Apple App Store, Google Play Store, and the Samsung Galaxy Store.

Have a blessed day!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Horse Mesa Press Announces the Launch of Ariel’s Song: Published Poems, 1987 – 2023

Golden Valley, AZ – Horse Mesa Press is excited to announce the launch of Ariel’s Song: Published Poems, 1987 – 2023 by Dawn Pisturino. The official launch date for the Ebook edition is March 23, 2024. The Lulu edition is available in the Lulu Bookstore. The IngramSpark print release will be announced at a later date.

Ariel’s Song is a collection of intensely personal poems written between 1987 and 2023 that features various styles and themes, from twisted limericks that make you laugh to traditional sonnets that make you think and feel the world around you. There is something for everyone to enjoy: dark poems, love poems, nature poems, funny poems, poems about death and grief, poems about abuse and heartache, children’s poems, and experimental poems.

This book is lovingly dedicated to Ariel Therese Pisturino, lyric soprano, music educator, and book lover.

Thank you, Michelle Ayon Navajas!

When Michelle contacted me and told me she wanted to help promote my book, I was touched and overwhelmed by her kindness and generosity. As editor of Hotel Masticadores and co-editor of Hotel Philippines, she has done a fabulous job in bringing both of those magazines to life. Thank you, Michelle! I will never forget what you have done for me.

Thank you, Nigel, for your kindness in re-blogging Michelle’s post!

Several people have asked me if the book is available now. Although I designated March 23rd as the official Ebook launch, the Ebook is available right now on Amazon and other platforms. The print book is still processing at IngramSpark but the Lulu edition is available in the Lulu Bookstore. I decided to go wide and publish on multiple platforms and globally distribute through two different book distributors. I will host a paperback launch when the print book from IngramSpark is published and available on Amazon and other platforms.

Thank you very much for your patience, kindness, and support!
