Rain
by Dawn Pisturino
Drizzling rain
On the windowpane
Calms my stormy brain,
Bringing sunshine again.
~
My husband and I have both been going stir crazy with the gloomy, rainy weather. Plus, it’s freezing cold!
We welcome the sunshine!

Yes, our mountains and foothills are now white, too. We had one day of sunshine and blue skies and then it rained again.

A few years ago it was raining every day for weeks here in Dallas. At first I welcomed the rain but after about a week it started to drive me nuts. it reminded me of a science fiction short story by Ray Bradbury that I read, the long rain. It was part of the Illustrated Man. The long rain took place on Venus where it was always raining. It was written in the 1950’s and they did not know much about Venus at the time. The constant rain drove people nuts and sometimes to suicide. I guess constant rain can do that to you.

Yes, I’ve read that that is a problem in rainy places like Seattle.

Gloomy in our state is quite a contrast to our usual. Glad it inspired a poem!

Sweet piece about missing the sun shining. I understand this feeling. We moved from Seattle after many years of living there because we were both affected by the rain. After ninety straight days of rain and clouds we made the decision to move. That was a record for Seattle but still, it does get to a person. I hope you have had some beautiful sunshine. Big hugs, Joni

We get so much sunshine that it’s hard to be without it. I love a little rain, but not too much! I start really craving sunlight.

We do to here in NC. It rains hard and then the sun comes out. Yes I know we both need that light. Thank you Dawn. Blessings, hugs Joni π¦πΉ
